The highlight of our Science Week was a trip to the Eureka science museum in Halifax. Literacy Workshop

On Friday 5th February 2016 we were invited to Cardinal Allen High School, to join in a book signing event with writer and TV producer, Gareth P. Jones.  Pupils from Euler class took part in a question and answer session with Gareth; award winning author of books including The Society of Thirteen and the newly published Death or Ice Cream?  The children discovered how he became an author and where the inspiration for his popular novels comes from.

Remembrance Sunday

On Sunday 8th November, some of our children, as representatives of St.Mary's, went to the cenotaph in the memorial park to be part of the community service. Katie and Harrison, as our Headgirl and Headboy, laid a wreath from our pupils, families and staff.

We will remember them.

Churches Together

Churches Together was an event ran by the Fleetwood churches inviting special guesses like the Deputy Major  to join in an event called Song of Praise. Our school was the only school to be asked to come along and celebrate music with them by performing. On Friday 9th October the KS2 children (Yr3-Yr6) performed samba and two hymns. They were a credit to our school in their behaviour and effect. It was commented on by the Deputy Major how amazing the children were and it made him smile seeing them up on stage, as well as other members of Fleetwood community commenting on how well the children sang, hearing every single word clearly. Well done St. Mary's children - you are credit to our school, your parents and yourselves!

Dahlicious Dress Up Day – Friday 25th September

What a wonderful day!

Children, staff and parents joined in a wonderful celebration to end our fantastic reading week.

Summer Fair

Thank you to all the families who came along and supported such a wonderful event. The summer fair was a huge success and luckily we had the weather too! Thank you especially to The Friends' of St Mary's who worked along side the staff to get stalls booked, set up and organised. We raised £900 and The Friends' of St Mary's will be planning on how to spend that within school on the children!

Bikeability for Year 5 and 6

The children were described as hardworking in their bikeability, their instructor commented that their effort and behaviour was exemplary as they learnt about keeping safe on the road, signalling and stopping safely. They have now completed Level 1 and will complete Level 2 next week.

CAGITs

CAGITs are run by Cardinal Allen High School, who allow the children in Year 5 have a taster day in their school, trying out some of the lessons as well as achieving Cardinal Allen's IT certificate while they're there. The children were provide with lunch and took part in a Science and DT lesson. They really enjoyed their day!

St. Mary's win at Fleetwood Carnival

At last, St. Mary's have won 1st place at Fleetwood Carnival after many years of 2nd and 3rd place! This year to celebrate our achievement of gaining the Eco Green Flag award we created a float all out of recycling materials: plastic bags to make flowers, cardboard, newspaper hats, flowers made out of plastic bottles and much more.

The Friends' of St. Mary's (our parents) were an amazing support in their time and effort in creating such a fantastic float!
