A hugh thank you to our governor Symone Thwaites, our parents, children and staff who represented St Mary's at the Fleetwood Year of Reading Presentation, at Fleetwood High School last night. As part of a collaboration with other Fleetwood Schools we shared our "Reading Project," and illustrated some of the many reading events and celebrations St Mary's have had throughout 2015/16.
On Thursday, our fantastic school choir opened the celebrations for the Queen's 90th on The Mount, at the event the beacon was lit, schools performed and the public were able to view art work made by schools. To make it even more special, BBC news were there to film what was happening and our choir sang on live TV.
The Rotary Club held a young writer competition in the Spring Term, the theme was Our World and the children could complete any type of writing but on that theme. And fantastic news is to be shared...Abigail Egan in Year 6 (Fibonacci Class), won the junior round out of all the children in Fleetwood who entered the competition, as well as the overall winner for the whole competition, including intermediate level and the seniors. She received a trophy for this to be kept in school. Abigail was presented with a certificate and a £25 Amazon voucher too. To read Abigail's piece of writing that won her this great prize and recognition for being such talented writer, look on Fibonacci Class's page.
