Who are the Mini Vinnies?
Mini Vinnies follow in the footsteps of Christ and St Vincent de Paul.
The Mini Vinnies are the youngest members of the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP), an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms by providing practical assistance to people in need.
The Mini Vinnies get together in primary schools and parishes across England and Wales to live out their mission of see, think, do, supporting their school community and beyond alongside the SVP. Most Mini Vinnies are between the ages of seven and eleven, but even children as young as five are living out the mission too.
Mini Vinnies turn concern into action by…
Praying for those in need
Making cards for those who may be sick, isolated, lonely or in prison
Visiting local care homes to sing and share stories with residents
Taking part in arts and crafts to share with others
Running food collections for a local food bank
Supporting other children in their school or parish
Our Pilgrims of Hope banner has arrived from CAFOD. We bought the banner to support the charity CAFOD, and to show to our community, how we as a school, are part of the Pilgrims of Hope year, set by the Pope for this Jubilee Year.
To begin our new year and the Epiphany, the Mini Vinnie led the liturgy to the whole school to share and remind people the coming of the three kings to visit baby.
We have added to our Mini Vinnie team! We know have Penelope, Gabby and Alice from Year 4 who have joined our team. They had to apply for the position and then were voted in based on their words by the rest of the team.
Congratulations to Aaron and Laila who have recently received the 'Footsteps with God Award' chosen and by our Mini Vinnies along with the class teacher of someone who is being seen as a true follower of Jesus, acting the way he teaches us and playing an active role in our RE lessons and worship.
Congratulations to Maria one of our Mini Vinnies who was selected by her fellow Mini Vinnie's to be the first to receive our first 'Footsteps with God' award for her being an altar server for church and did for the whole school at Harvest Mass. Here are a few photos taken by her mum sharing the news of her award with the parish.
Mini Vinnies gifted a bag of M&Ms to the adults in school as gift for their hard work towards Easter and after all their efforts in Holy Week.
