Today, we took part in stations of the cross where we looked back at Jesus' journey. We wrote down our own prayers and reflections and enjoyed looking at each class' station.

We have all enjoyed a 10 week Rugby Reading programme where we have learnt new skills and had lots of fun. Some of us have also had the opportunity to take part in the reading part of the workshop where we have learnt new reading skills to help us with our SATs tests in May. A Visit to Emmanual Church
Today, we visited Emmanuel Church where we took part in an immersive workshop that taught us all about Holy Week. Thank you to Emmanuel Church - we had a great time!

Today in RE, we worked in small groups to come up with our own TV report that depicted the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem during Holy Week.
Our Lent Workshop
We had a wonderful afternoon for our Lent workshop today. We painted stones that represented the stone covering the tomb where Jesus lay and we also created our own beautiful Easter cards. Thank you to everyone who joined us this afternoon.

Stations of the Cross with Luca
Our Mini Vinnies are spending every Tuesday lunchtime at church leading on The Way of the Cross Service during Lent. They join Fr Stephen and Mrs Sewell along with any parishioners. They revisit and reflect on the events of Good Friday, using the artwork of the stations around church. This week Luca (Luchay) which means light, joined the Mini Vinnies in their visit. Luca is the mascot for the Pilgrims of Hope, our special Jubilee Year. She'll be joining us for lots of events in and out of school over the coming months.

We all know learning grammar is hard...so to help us we've each taken a grammar focus and created a 'sandwich board' or poster to explain what it is. During our English lesson, we have showcased these to each other to teach one another our specialist area!

We loved breaking the rules today! Some rule breaks included: wearing our own clothes, buying extra breaktime, bring a teddy, wear a crazy hairstyle, eat a snack in class and sit next to a friend for the day! We had so much fun!

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
We've been reading the book, 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' this half term. It's been an eye opening read so far. From the book, we've completed different pieces of writing for example a setting description and a small play script for a particular scene. Next half term, we will complete the book before watching the film and doing a comparison between the book and the film.
Children's Mental Health Week 2025
To mark Children's mental Health Week, we wore our scarves and watched Inside Out 2...as well as having 'time out' from our homework!

In RE today, we took part in role play whereby we came up with our own 'Breaking Newsround Report' based on Jesus' miracle of the loaves. We worked in small groups to come up with our script before performing them to our peers.

Creative LEGO Builders Workshop
As part of our science topic this half term we are learning about electricity. We've taken part in a LEGO Builders workshop where we made our own LEGO cities before adding circuits to create light! We even added a moving train!

Our DT topic this half term has been to create our own park structures. First, we took pictures of parks and discussed the structure we would like in our own park. We then designed our park and gathered our resources. After that, we worked as a team to assemble our structures. The outcomes were amazing and everyone worked so well as a team.

Cross Curricular Writing
In RE, we've been learning about Justice. In History, we are learning all about WWII. Our latest piece of writing combines the two of these as we've carefully watched and analysed the 2014 Sainsbury's Advert that tells us the story of two soldiers meeting to create a truce on Christmas Day. We wrote a diary entry in the perspective of one of the soldiers - please take a look at our spectacular pieces of writing. We hope you can imagine what it was like through the imagery we have created.
STEM RAF Rocket Builder Challenge Day
We have taken part in this year’s rocket builder STEM challenge whereby we had to make our own rocket and test its launch. We had to think about many different areas of STEM including the science behind the launch, the maths behind its build, the design process and much more! We worked as a team to create our own rockets and then we tested them out to see how far they travelled. Our STEM booklets show the process and the testing and recording stages.
Advent Workshop
Thank you so much to all of our parents who could attend our lovely Advent workshop! We really enjoyed making cards and pompom Santa decorations! Thank you to Evelyn and Maria who shared a lovely reading and a prayer at the end of the session.
Alma - A Creepy Fantasy Story!
In English, we've watched the video clip 'Alma' and created our own fantasy story using a range of language and punctuation. Our final pieces sound AMAZING! Take a look at some of them!
Maths
We are progressing very well in maths in Saxophone class. We are using our morning maths arithmetic knowledge and applying this to problem solving in our lessons. Keep it up Saxophone class!
Heart & Lung Dissecting
This morning, we had a visit from two science teachers from Cardinal Allen. During our practical session, we took part in heart and lung dissecting. It was interesting to see the different components of each which in turn helped us to consolidate the learning we have done in class.
Remembrance Day
Our little leadership team represented school beautifully at Sunday’s Remembrance Day service at the Memorial Park. They respectfully presented a wreath for the fallen soldiers and showed their respect throughout the whole service. Thank you, Year 6.
Netball
During our netball session, we practiced our tactics, shoulder passes, footwork and our shooting skills...all of which were done with accuracy. Well done!
PSHE - Coram Life Education
In our Coram Life Education session, we spoke about decisions. The decisions we will make in the next ten years, the bad decisions we might be faced with, peer pressure, drugs, alcohol, bystanders and how to deal with all the changes we might face in the near future with our transition to high school. A very well informed, productive session for all! Well done Saxophone class!
World Mental Health Day
For 'World Mental Health Day' in Saxophone class, we have taken part in the following...mindful colouring, yoga, breathing exercises, relaxing in the reading den, reading a book and mindful doodling/brain building work. We've even eaten sweets, been given new toothbrushes and toothpaste and we've finished the day off with a homework free night!
A Walk Through the Bible
Our final session of 'A Walk Through the Bible' was just as fun as the other sessions. We've now finished learning about all the books of the Old Testament. Amazing work Saxophone Class!

For our geography field trip, we split into groups and went into the local area to discuss what there was to do and how the area could be improved. We stopped people in the streets and in shops and they were kind enough to answer our questions! We gathered primary knowledge and from our findings, we spoke about what we could do to improve our area

Creepy Crawly Assembly
Our visit from the Creepy Crawly man linked in nicely with us celebrating St Francis of Assisi, the patron Sint of animals. We talked about the different animals and their characteristics; we even got to hold some!

Today we took part in a zoom workshop where we listened carefully to an arctic explorer and her experiences in the polar regions. We also spoke to different people from around the world about how we could make our world plastic free to ensure wildlife doesn't become extinct.

For the next five weeks, we are taking part in the active mile! How fabulous that we get to do it around he Mount in the lovely sunshine! Today, we even managed to get further than we did last week.
First Aid Training
Today, we learnt a skill that we hope we will never have to use - CPR! We all had a go on a pretend patient and found out that it is actually a very hard thing to do! We all did a great job though!

We were lucky enough to meet a local artist this week! They are creating a mural on Mount Street and they took time out of their day to talk to us about the Big Heart Project. This art work linked nicely with a mini debate in class as to whether mural art/street art is graffiti or art.
