St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Football Team

2024-2025

We have played our last game of 2024. The progress the football team has made since their first game together in September has been truly inspiring. They have worked incredibly hard, pushed themselves, learnt about the game and shown great passion, determination and respect to other teams and each other. I am extremely proud of each and every player, together and through their efforts they have started to build a talented and formidable team. I have loved watching the team and feel privileged to have had the chance to see them grow week after week. I am looking forward to seeing what 2025 brings for them. Thank you to the parents, grandparents and carers who have come and supported the team every week, as always your support is very much appreciated. A final thank you to the players who have given their all every week. Mrs C

Thursday 7th November

St Mary’s Catholic Primary -v- Larkholme

This match saw St Mary’s playing one of the top teams in the league and what a battle we gave them. Every St Mary’s player gave 100%, they showed respect, teamwork, passion and fantastic sportsmanship. Man of the match was awarded to Tayson, for the second week he volunteered to play outside his comfort zone, put himself in goals and made some great saves. Big shout out to Riley who also spent time in goals and played brilliantly. This was our last game until 2025, so we have lots of time to regroup and train. I can’t wait to get back at it with the team in 2025.

Thursday 31st October

St Mary’s v Stalmine

The team put on a great show of team work, perseverance and determination to score themselves 2 fabulous goals. Man of the match was a difficult choice this week because the whole team gave 100%, but Connor was chosen to take the trophy home. Conner showed maturity, patience and respect on the pitch and represented St Mary’s brilliantly. Well done Connor.

Thursday 10th October

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School -v- Manor Beach

The game got off to a steady start and the second half saw St Mary’s really shine. The boys and girl worked hard and displayed some effective passing, strong defending and super teamwork. Well done to the whole team for representing St Mary’s so brilliantly. Player of the match this week goes to Oscar for his determination, perseverance and fantastic goals.

Some photos from our previous matches. We have played teams from Great Eccleston Church of England Primary School, Chaucer and Northfold primary schools. We have seen the children’s football skills, knowledge of the game, resilience and determination grow week to week. The children are doing a fabulous job of representing our school and are clearly keeping in mind our school rules of being kind, respectful, ready and safe. The children’s manners and fantastic sporting attitudes have even been commented on by adults from opposition schools. Well done team!
