Finch Class

Welcome to Finch Class

Year 1 and 2

Mrs Cross and Miss Howell

Just like finches, Year 1 children are small, bright, curious and ready to spread their wings and learn!

Our year so far…

September 2026

The adventure begins! The children in Finch Class have made a fabulous start. In maths they have been exploring 2d shapes, working on their number recognition and formation and testing their addition skills. In English they have been trying hard to remember what a sentence needs and how we can make our work ‘pop’ with exciting describing words. The children are starting to recognise that a describing word is called an adjective. In Science the children are thinking about what parts of her body and which senses Goldilocks would have used when exploring the home of the three bears. The children have successfully identified several tricky body parts and are excited to move onto learning about the five senses. Even though we have been so busy, we have still found lots of time to have fun. What a fantastic start to the year!

R.E in Finch Class

The children have been learning about the story of creation. They have learnt that Christians believe that God created the world because He loves us. They have started to understand that it is important that we look after this very special gift.

The children explored our lovely school to find lots of things that God created. They were able to identify birds, insects, people, plants, the sky, clouds, flowers and rainwater as things God Created.
