Today was an extra special day for St. Mary’s. This year we have introduced a ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ award for each class. The children were chosen for their contribution to sport and the sporting qualities that they have demonstrated. To commemorate this, we hosted a special assembly in which we celebrated all the fantastic sporting achievements that have taken place this school year. Mr Pilley, Chairman of Fleetwood Town Football Club, came along to share our celebration and present the children with their awards. It was a lovely ceremony and a super way to acknowledge the plentiful and varied sporting achievements by our children.
Report Written by Tia and Dzhuliya who attended the event.
Firstly, we were separated into 4 groups after we had received our t-shirts from Coach Chris and Ash. After that, we all went outside to start our adventurous day and were then taken to meet our first instructor. The activities included races between the teams and ultimate frisbee. There were lots of other activities throughout the day and we got to take part in all of them. At dinner time, we were able to meet back up with our friends and have a chat about the day. We had a really good day at the Gifted and Talented Event and it was really good to push ourselves.

St Mary's school football team played Fleetwood Charity today in the first game of the new season and what a game it was!
The "new" team displayed outstanding skill, determination and passion and for the first game demonstrated that this is a team to watch out for this year. Unfortunately, the team lost 2:1 however, if they had of converted the many shots they had on goal, they would have easily won today. The wind played a major factor on the ability to convert goals and I am sure we are going to see many goals as the year progresses. What a fantastic start to the year. Well done Lads and thank you Kevin!
