St Mary's Catholic Primary School

Working Together for the Good of Each Other

SEND

At St Mary's Catholic Primary School, every child matters.
We celebrate individual differences and believe that every child has the potential to learn, grow and shine in their own way. Supporting children with a wide range of strengths and needs is at the heart of our vision for education.

We are fully committed to meeting the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Every child deserves a rich and fulfilling education that helps them achieve their potential and prepares them for a happy, successful future—whether that’s in further education, training or employment.

When needed, we work closely with external experts to make sure children’s needs are spotted early and met in the best possible way. Our teachers, support staff and inclusion team are well-trained and work together every day to provide the right support. We share ideas, adapt our approaches, and always strive for best practice in SEND.

Parents and families are a vital part of this journey. We value open and honest communication and work in partnership with families to achieve the very best outcomes for children.

Above all, we want children to feel confident, capable and proud of who they are. We nurture their strengths, talents and unique gifts—helping them to flourish both in school and beyond.

We try to ensure that:

  • Your child gets the right support. This might be in-class support, or more focused help in small groups or one-to-one sessions.

  • Teachers understand your child’s needs. I will work closely with staff so that the right strategies and adaptations are in place to help your child succeed.

  • Parents are fully involved. We’ll share progress and targets with you, and you’re always welcome to arrange an appointment if you’d like to talk things through.

  • Other professionals are included when needed. For example, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, may be involved to give your child the very best support.

.

Lead by Mrs Stuchfield, the amazing Teaching Assistants in school have achieved the 'Best Practice in Teaching Assistants Award', this demonstrates how superbly the Teaching Assistants support your children throughout their school journey.
