Health and Safety Update - The use of Protective Playing Equipment
Our Headboy and Headgirl, along with their deputies attended a local food bank in Fleetwood with Mrs Kowalska to donate our school's Harvest collection, which was kindly donated by our families and staff.
All parents
Just to let you know that the Easter boxes we put together have now been delivered to the Ukraine. See pictures attached. Thank you so much to the parents who very kindly donated boxes to school, it seems they were very much appreciated.

In assembly, on the 23rd September, our leadership teams were announced: Head Boy, Head girl and their deputies, our Year 6 Sports' Leaders to represent our houses and our Values Ambassadors, one from each year group, to make up our new School Council, representing the voices of the pupils in school.
Congratulations to all of the children who were chosen by being voted for by their peers.
On Saturday 18th June the school took part in Fleetwood Carnival. Our float was designed to celebrate the wonderful heritage of Fleetwood in the form of a fishing boat. There was an eye-catching collage on the rear of the float of some of our iconic Fleetwood Buildings, the Mount and pavilion, beach huts and lighthouses.
All of the children and staff had great fun and we won second place into the bargain!
On Thursday 21st April we held an awareness day for Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. Many of the children wore something yellow to help raise awareness of HIE - Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy (HIE) is where there is a lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain. It can occur before, during, or shortly after labour. It can happen in older children too. You may also hear the term “asphyxia” or “birth asphyxia”. These mean the same thing. HIE can cause injury to the brain. The severity of this can vary greatly. You may hear HIE and a grade from 1 which is mild to 3 which is severe.
The children participating made a £1 towards the PEEPS Charity who raise awareness, making sure that people affected by HIE can get the support needed.
We raised a grand total of £63 plus gift aid which has been sent directly to the charity. Thanks so much to all who took part and donated to this worthy cause.

Visit from the Mayor of Wyre
Yesterday we had a visit from Andrea Kay the Mayor of Wyre and her consort Phil. Andrea spent the afternoon in the classrooms getting to know our children who asked her lots of interesting and probing questions! Andrea then met with Mrs. Bottomley to suggest ways that the school can raise funds for future projects. Thanks so much to Andrea and Phil, the children had a wonderful afternoon.
A great St. Mary's tradition is back - our Easter Egg raffle. The children could buy tickets to enter the raffle and win an egg of their choice. All the money raised will be going towards helping the Ukrainian families in needed.
We will be holding an Open Day on Tuesday 5th October 2021 for prospective new parents/children who will be starting school in September 2022.
