  • 'Thank You' from the Food Bank

Thu 19 Oct 2017 Ann Kowalska

We have received a lovely email from the Secretary of the Fleetwood Food Bank - Colin Brown, thanking children, parents and staff for our Harvest Gifts.  The message was also published in our newsletter last Monday.

    Hello Mrs Kowalska,

It was lovely to meet you again and some of the children on Wednesday at the Food Bank. I would like to thank you, the teachers, all the children and parents for your support of the SVP Fleetwood Food Bank with the very generous donation of food following your recent Harvest Festival.
Without the support of churches, schools and individuals we would not be able to provide about 35/45 food parcels each week which help to feed up to 100 adults and children. We are totally dependant on donations of food and on occasions money as we do not receive any funding from any statutory organisation.

    Many thanks once again,

    Colin Brown

  • National Fitness Day - YMCA visit

    Wed 27 Sep 2017

On Wednesday 27th September, it was National Fitness Day and our Year 5 and 6 pupils were given the opportunity (for free) to spend the day at Thornton YMCA. This entailed: a Spartan gym class, ten-pin bowling, outdoor games and going on the skate park. We had a fantastic day, with lots of laughter and smiles, even with some hot, sweaty faces.

The staff at the YMCA were brilliant and some of them came in even on their day off. The following day we heard from Scott, who is the manager, who said, "I just wanted to say thank you so much for bringing a wonderful bunch of children down to work with us yesterday. Michael and his team have expressed huge levels of fulfilment and there has been an energetic buzz of achievement floating around the centre."

  • Unvalidated Year 6 SATs results

Wed 12 Jul 2017 Ann Kowalska

On the 4th July, the Department for Education released unvalidated results for the 2017 Year 6 SATs.  The results are very pleasing and our children have a lot to be proud of.  The results relate to the percentage of children who achieved the Expected Standard.  The scaled score for the Greater Depth Standard will not be released until the Autumn Term.  Last year it was set at 110 and if this remains for 2017, then the Greater Depth Standard data is equally as pleasing.  Progress data will also be released in the Autumn Term.

    Children reaching the Expected Standard:

Reading: 94%        Writing: 88%            Maths: 88%     SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) 94%

    Well done to everyone!

  • Summer Fair

Fri 30 Jun 2017 Mrs Sewell
Thank you so much to all of the parent volunteers who make up our Friends' of St. Mary's and staff for organising a superb Summer Fair. The children all seemed to be enjoying themselves and hopefully we raised lots of money. We will let you know when it is all added up!
  • Let The Children Sing

Fri 23 Jun 2017 Mrs Sewell
A fantastic effort from our children tonight as they participated in the 'Let The Children Sing' event at St. Mary's Church joining the other schools in the deanery as part of the 150 year celebration of St. Mary's Church.
  • St. Mary's children step up to success at Fleetwood High School

    Fri 23 Jun 2017 Mrs M Bottomley
As part of the Deputy headteacher's cluster programme, three children from St. Mary's represented the school and joined children from other local schools to participate in a range of team and confidence building activities. The children had a fantastic time and now look forward to the final event on 11th July when they rejoin the cluster schools for Beach School!
  • Fleetwood Carnival

Sat 17 Jun 2017 Mrs Sewell
The Friends' of St. Mary's especially Mrs Brand (Scarlett's Mum) did a brilliant job at organising this year's float. Our theme was about joining everyone together in our world and that we are all one. Children from classes contributed, as well as parents coming into school during the day and after school to put together our fantastic float. We appreciate it very much!
