Health and Safety Update - The use of Protective Playing Equipment
We have received a lovely email from the Secretary of the Fleetwood Food Bank - Colin Brown, thanking children, parents and staff for our Harvest Gifts. The message was also published in our newsletter last Monday.
On Wednesday 27th September, it was National Fitness Day and our Year 5 and 6 pupils were given the opportunity (for free) to spend the day at Thornton YMCA. This entailed: a Spartan gym class, ten-pin bowling, outdoor games and going on the skate park. We had a fantastic day, with lots of laughter and smiles, even with some hot, sweaty faces.
The staff at the YMCA were brilliant and some of them came in even on their day off. The following day we heard from Scott, who is the manager, who said, "I just wanted to say thank you so much for bringing a wonderful bunch of children down to work with us yesterday. Michael and his team have expressed huge levels of fulfilment and there has been an energetic buzz of achievement floating around the centre."
On the 4th July, the Department for Education released unvalidated results for the 2017 Year 6 SATs. The results are very pleasing and our children have a lot to be proud of. The results relate to the percentage of children who achieved the Expected Standard. The scaled score for the Greater Depth Standard will not be released until the Autumn Term. Last year it was set at 110 and if this remains for 2017, then the Greater Depth Standard data is equally as pleasing. Progress data will also be released in the Autumn Term.
Children reaching the Expected Standard:
Reading: 94% Writing: 88% Maths: 88% SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) 94%
Well done to everyone!
